From June 16 to 19, 2020, the high-level training course on IP service agencies capabilities improvement hosted by the Sichuan Intellectual Property Service Promotion Center officially started. A total of more than 150 people from provincial intellectual property departments, industry associations and managers of intellectual property service agencies engaged in intellectual property agency, licensing, operation and other services in the province attended the training. Zheng Haoqin, Vice President of Purplevine IP Group, was invited to be the expert lecturer of the training, and conducted an online training on the topic of "Intellectual Property Protection in International Perspective".
With more than ten years of practical experience in assisting clients in cross-border litigation dispute resolution, government investigations, and other areas of practice at Purplevine Group and leading international law firms, Zheng Haoqin has reviewed and explained the three modules of U.S. District Court proceedings, United States International Trade Commission (ITC) investigation proceedings, and U.S. District Court/ITC/PTAB interactive proceedings. He provided a systematic review of the main proceedings such as pre-suit warnings, filing of motions, discovery, claim construction hearings (Markman hearings), pretrial motions, and trials. Zheng also discussed the substantive and procedural provisions of Section 337, the exclusion order relief after investigation, and the litigation procedures related to the investigation of Section 337 from a multi-dimensional perspective, supplemented by the analysis of typical litigation cases, and put forward guiding advices for the delegates. He focused on the avoidance of patent litigation risks and the use of various litigation strategies to effectively resolve patent disputes.
